Finally Friday: Christmas Mix 2

Don’t forget to get your Peace On Earth Vol II Christmas charity compilation from Hard To Find a Friend blog.  It looks like Caleb is doling out his best of the year one by one.  Here are No. 2 and No. 3–whoa! A three-way tie?  Hmmm.  That would solve problems with my list.

Rollo and Grady have posted their Top 25 as well as a covers post that includes Elbow’s Back to Black (Winehouse)

Motel de Moka has a Top 10.

MP3Hugger posts a playlist of 42 songs of 2008, and Muzzle of Bees also celebrates songs of 2008 with videos! Must watch.

Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 albums and 100 songs just came out in the latest issue too. I don’t see a lot of common ground between their list and the one I’m working on. To me, that means there was so much good music this year that a lot of room exists for favorites of different tastes. If you want to submit your own lists favorites for just about anything, hop over to Song, By Toad.

I will post my top 10 albums sometime this weekend, but it might not be until Sunday afternoon. Lots to do!

But now, music! First, three Swedish selections. These folks know how to celebrate winter.

New album from a Swedish band:
Deer Tracks: Christmas Fire from Aurora, scheduled for UK release March 2009

I love the old ‘wall of sound’ treatment on this holiday heartbreak song. “Something about a meeting/Eggnog on your collar and a twinkle in your eye”–

In September, Marcy Playground’s MySpace site announced that new music would be released before the end of the year. Some unreleased demos are up at John Wozniak’s MySpace that sound good.

I think this is my very favorite of all the updated classic carols.
