01.09Finally Friday

Above, one of three reasons why the house never gets warm. Also, ugly wallpaper that must go this year. Viva la resolution!
Muruch, who has been around a long time but is new to our blogroll, also has a new address for 2009. Read her excellent list of Top 21 albums of 2008 here.
Catch up on the latest music gossip at Hard To Find a Friend, like the romance between Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel. But no, really, there’s actual MUSIC news too.
To Die By Your Side has post-holiday blues syndrome and a wonderful song by Flaming Lips that covers both Sonic Youth and Led Zeppelin at once.
Lost In Your Inbox has been really busy this week, including an admission of theft! Gasp!
I have neglected to mention before that Song, By Toad has started his own label and and signed some pretty amazing bands already, including Meursault, which catapulted straight onto many people’s end of 2008 lists. I’m still absorbing them, but I like them. Read his latest for more news.
These covers are from Buffetlibre’s Rewind 2 remix and cover collection. This is just a small sample; there are LOTS more.
I can’t wait to hear the new album Division Day has been working on. It’s so great to hear Rohner’s voice on a new song here.

I don’t think I’ve told you this before, but I am a crazy cat lady. I have three. Your cat (name?) is so cute and unusual looking! And I’m very happy to see it above a link to my site.

Yay for crazy cat ladies! This one is Pie, the favorite of my current three, who I like to imagine is a reincarnation of my favorite cat ever, Agate. Both are/were long-haired tortoiseshells (three colors, no white) and the smartest cats I’ve had.
I’ll be visiting you a lot! You find a lot of interesting artists.
