Saving the Tatas

Today Mr. Folkie, my grandson He Might Be Giant, and I are at the 11th annual Hike For Hope, a fund-raising activity for breast cancer research that takes place in the Indian Canyons near Palm Springs. The desert is beautiful this time of year, and there is no better way to spend the first Sunday of March than by hiking to save the tatas. Mr. Folkie says he is not sure he would wear a T-shirt that says “Save the Tatas,” but he is a great appreciator of tatas and therefore categorically in favor of saving them. To help save your favorite tatas, check out similar activities at the City of Hope website.

This title song from the Heartless Bastards’ fourth album fits this theme because it is a song about setting personal goals and not giving up, and also we will be walking under the shadow of the mighty San Jacinto Mountains all the glorious morning. Our destination is the beautiful little waterfall above.

We cheated Death again! as we like to say after a hike. :)
HMBG was a champ, and we had a very good time. This event raises a couple hundred thousand dollars each year.

Minor correction: “The Mountain” is the Heartless Bastards 3rd studio CD, and it’s very good. I missed them when they came through here last weekend, playing in Ft. Worth last Friday and in Denton last Saturday. I was too tired to go up to Denton Saturday night. Anyhow, I’d see them do a great show at Club DaDa in Dallas last November. This looks to be a great year for the HBs so far. Check them out; they’re great live and on CD.
