Indie Mom and I will be going to Coachella 2009 in two weeks. While not nearly as chock full o’ wonderful as SXSW and other festivals, it is the closest to us geographically, and we have friends in town we can stay with, thus keeping the cost down. We decided to go for only the first day, Friday the 17th.

None of the set times are on the Coachooser yet, so it’s not possible to plan your schedule, but it’s not too soon to start thinking about who to see, especially the acts you don’t know much about. Saturday has some techno/electronica/dance artists. I collect these for certain friends, and some songs become my favorites too, like Gang Gang Dance’s “House Jam,” MSTRKRFT’s remix of Metric’s “Monster Hospital,” and several by Thievery Corporation. Thievery Corporation don’t seem to have a typical sound–each song I’ve heard is different. My choice here sounds more like world music than most of their tracks.

And who couldn’t like Antony’s Hegarty’s project Hercules and Love Affair? Deeeelicious. That would be on my must-see list.
