Contrast Podcast #158 honors the egg as springtime symbol of fertility and new life. Eggs are also well-known as fragile, and I couldn’t resist Rasputina’s song about how bringing back an egg through shark-infested waters is this island’s method of choosing a king. That’s the kind of guts we need from our leaders!
My other two choices, also posted, are excellent songs too. The number of songs about eggs or by bands with eggy names is pretty amazing–just check out the podcast and see. And there is also the album title by Andrew Bird, The Mysterious Production of Eggs.
The photo above is a my own bird bowl holding a real nest I found in a tree in our yard. The “eggs” are nearly identical little round stones I found on the beach at Torrey Pines last summer.

Yes, agree that Rasputina song is excellent and good choice. I need to get my act together and contribute to that wonderful Contrast Podcast. I did it a couple of times in the past and enjoyed it. Fun to listen to those podcasts!

@Marcy — I THOUGHT I’d seen/heard that song somewhere, and I was surprised it wasn’t in the podcast. I must have seen at your place. It’s really very pretty.
@Merz — Jump in! So fun. I really like when Tim gives us several themes at once. There’s no time for my usual indecision, and I just crank ‘em out. I did the last three (Eggs is the second) in about an hour, funny voices and all.
