Appearing just before Silversun Pickups at last Sunday’s sold-out Glass House show, The Deadly Syndrome, another local L.A.-area band, rose to the challenge by warming up a crowd already hot for the main act with a spirited set from their 2007 debut full-length, The Ortolan.
Chris Richard’s outstanding vocals were backed by Will Etling’s vibrant lead guitar. Jesse Hoy mostly plays drums, but he and keyboardist Mike Hughes traded places on the final numbers. The tight set quickly seized the audience’s attention and earned roaring approval.

“Deer Trail Place” and “Doesn’t Matter” are both songs that will be on the new album the Deadly Syndrome are planning to release in fall of this year. During the final song, “Eucalyptus,” all four took up sticks and formed a drumming huddle in the center of the stage (above, and photo gallery below).
