I didn’t have a Finally Friday last week because we were sweating it out at Coachella 2009, so I’ll try to make up for that this week. There is still more to come on Coachella too: Airborne Toxic Event, We Are Scientists, Franz Ferdinand, and Morrissey. Check out our Day in Photos.
We’re experimenting with some font changes here. I like the slightly smaller size and the tighter paragraphs. The current colors will probably not remain, however, I want to do something that makes the links more visible. Suggestions?
Contrast Podcast #160 contains our nominatins for best of 2009 so far, and a great bunch it is. My favorite song of the year is in this podcast.
Battery In Your Leg for Tuesday releases includes a compelling, dreamlike video by Australian duo Empire of the Sun of “We Are the People.”
Jeremy at Fingertips posts a two-part essay called “Music is not like water,” observations on the fallacy that music should be available without cost to the consumer. Part 1 appeared yesterday, Part 2 today. Excellent reading.

Discover the lovely voice of Laura Stevenson and the Cans at Kata Rokkar. Mr. Folkie is going to like this.
Earlier this month, Matt at Song By Toad and a couple of other bloggers had the opportunity to meet with some folks at Sony BMG regarding the relationship between music bloggers and large record companies, which at present is adversarial. The results are inconclusive but interesting.
Captain Obvious is always on top of the newest things, and he’s got a video of Bon Iver’s a capella rendition of “For Emma Long Ago” that is super cool. Also, for us fans of J. Tillman prior to his Fleet Foxes involvement, find some early demos here.
Well, that’s a start. I have also been neglecting my bloated mailbox, which as Mars Needs Guitars notes, is very time-consuming. Try some of these:
I saw this track at Local Vertical, and then found it in my own mailbox.

i like the smaller font size, but my personal preference would be a smidge more linespace within the paragraphs. of course, you may not be able to change one without the other.
also, i really like the green background–maybe you can just change the hyper-link colors? however, i’m not really one to give advice, as i haven’t changed the look of my blog since i started!
p.s. i think you have agnes’s url wrong–check the link.

Thanks, and I agree with you. It seemed to me that the hyperlinks were difficult to find in the posts when they were brown and green. They blended in too much. I wouldn’t mind the red and purple within the post text, but having it all down the left side is too much. I already asked Indie Mom to change it back. As you suggested, I was also thinking just a leeeetle bit more space between lines, but not as much as it was. I know I’m wordy, but the text was so spread out, it looked like I wrote way more than I did. We’ll keep playing with it.
