Coachella: We Are Scientists! Photos

I have listened to We Are Scientist for a couple of years without focusing very closely on them, I just like a lot of their songs. But Indie Mom rated their album With Love And Squalor her #12 favorite album of 2006 and it was also a favorite of her son, He Might Be Giant. Not to forget, they are Metro L.A. homeboys who attended college in Pomona. All this placed them firmly on our Coachella list.

Keith Murray (guitar and lead vocals) and Chris Cain (bass guitar, backing vocals), along with Max Hart on keys and guitar and (I think) Matt Helders (formerly of Arctic Monkeys) on drums, put on a spirited performance, with Murray dipping into the audience for a little crowd surfing and a three-guitar salute at the end. I realized, in kind of a duh moment, how much like Weezer they are, musically, but even more so in the subject of the lyrics, romantic insecurity.

Cain kept introducing each song as, “This one’s an original!” Of course, they all were.
